HERE'S AN UPDATE ON WHAT WE'VE BEEN ABLE TO DO WITH YOUR SUPPORT !

·         We held another, free community fish fry, on September 16th.  Around 500 people showed up at Perry Park and ate fresh whiting, cleaned by volunteers and cooked by volunteers.  We got a great deal on the fish and only had to buy  the cooking oil, cornmeal, bread and condiments for the traditional fish sandwich (heads still on) and some sodas..  A local caterer donated French fries and "tater-tots."  We had a disc jockey and played over and over Harold Melvin and the Bluenotes' "Wake Up, Everybody."--One woman told Elaine she had never voted before, but now she would vote, and vote for Elaine!

·         We've placed our order for several hundred mini-loaves of brown bread for our free-bread-for-the-people push.  They cost $1.00 each, but it's worth it.  Our campaign logo will be on the wrapper, and the bread is made by a local bakery that uses only completely organic ingredients.

·         We've bought 300 yard signs, for the incredibly reasonable price of around $900.  Most of them are already up in yards now.

·         We've produced our own window signs for businesses.  A large number of the small businesses in the community--barber and beauty shops, restaurants, convenience stores--are putting up Elaine's campaign signs in their windows.--We're trying to get the public housing authority to allow residents to put these signs in their windows--presently forbidden.

·         We're able to pay for the constant supply of snacks we provide to children in the neighborhood of our office--across from the Mercer Altama Housing Project.--During summer, a regular bevy of kids started coming to the office seeking help in going to the only swimming pool in the area (charging $2/day for a kid) and to get a cool drink.  Now, after school, we have bunches who come for the juice and popcorn or cookies we give out.  They call Elaine "Miss Elaine Brown," and say they'll vote for her because she's going to build them a nearby, free swimming pool.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT,
